I have dozens of attempts at writing lyrics for this song, going back nearly twenty years, but nothing ever felt right. As I started considering the theme of companionship and imagining a group of friends going on a trip into space that would be a permanent voyage with no return intended, the lyrics began to flow. There is something terrifying, yet so appealing, about the idea of leaving the world behind forever in search of something new. And the only way I would ever consider it is with the right group of friends.
